Right to Services in Different Settings

It doesn’t matter if you live in a large residential facility, a nursing home, CILA, or anywhere else, you have the right to get the services and supports you need to live the life you want.

Know your rights

We help make sure that your rights to services are not blocked. People with disabilities who get services in institutions, facilities, and programs have the right to be safe and free from abuse, neglect and exploitation. You also have the right to:

  • Get appropriate and individualized services
  • Challenge unwanted treatment and services
  • Have your preferences and choices respected
  • Make your own decisions or have people who make decisions for you think about what you want
  • Challenge decisions that prevent you from exercising your rights
